PE1 - first fresnel plant connected to a public grid

The solar power station Puerto Errado 1 (PE1) has an electrical output of 1.4 MW and is based on the Linear Fresnel Collector technology. The generated electricity has been fed into the local network since March 2009. The modular system Nova-1 allows a scaling of solar fields from one to several hundred MW. This is the first time that this system has been used in a commercial network.

PE2 - world’s first utility-scale Fresnel solar thermal power plant

Puerto Errado 2 (PE2), the 30MW solar thermal power station has been completed and is in operation. The world's largest Linear-Fresnel Solar Power Station has a mirror surface of 302,000 m2. PE2’s 30MW electrical output is generated exclusively by solar power and will produce approximately 50 million kW hours of electricity per year. Annually, this equates to a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions of over 16,000 metric tonnes and enough clean energy to power 12,000 Spanish households.

Liddell - a world's first integration of solar thermal technology with a traditional power station

Novatec Solar has been awarded the contract to build a new 9MWth solar field at Liddell, which will complement the existing plant, a world first integration of solar thermal technology with a traditional power station.

Construction of the 18,000 square metre solar field – the size of almost three football fields – is expected to commence in early 2011 and be completed in 2012.
